So, those two pieces I wrote for issues 17 and 18 of the Cashiers du Cinemart zine have been posted online. My piece on the terrible movie After Last Season is here, and my article on how Michael Powell adapted the novel They're a Weird Mob is here.
And you imagined this blog post. Spooky, huh?

Well, the director of that movie you reviewed was obviously either out of his mind or pulling everyone's leg -- expensively -- I'd trend towards the former -- and you were part of an audience that he seems to have been targeting.
My heart bleeds for those unfortunate stooges that were his unwitting accomplices, but I assume they got paid, and lots of movies turn out to be uncomfortable or downright insufferable for "The Talent." I think that quite possibly, this movie may have been extremely beneficial for their careers . . . then again, maybe not! At least no set they'll ever be on again will ever be as brutal. It was a good boot camp, as one might say . . .
But the review was almost as interesting as the movie plot, except I won't be buying the DVD any time soon. If you've ever seen William Shatner speaking Esperanto in a black and white movie about demons (Incubus) then you will appreciate what an extremely perverted vision plus a whole lot of cash can achieve in the world of bizarreness.
