My guess is "Don".
Not sure why, but I looked at the handwriting and assumed it was a woman.
Yeah. I could see that. Of course, maybe that's just us being all sexist and stuff. Unfortunately from context, there's no clear cut way to tell. Looking at the odd formation of the S and t in "St." indicates that the first letter in the name could be almost anything -- other than M, V, F, H, P, T, N, or S.
I can't imagine a gal calling herself a yokel. I will go out on a limb with "John".
The more I look at it, the more I think Pos might be right.
