That's an interesting date to be sending a post card to a sailor. On August 4, 1945, it looked like the Allies were preparing an invasion of Japan that could take years and cost millions of lives.
Two days later, possibly before Abie got the postcard, things had begun to change.
I just love old postcards and old photos!
They're a real time capsule. These come from a bunch I bought via eBay. There's a lot to and from this one family.
This is so cool. The beacon looks like it belongs someplace more exotic!
