M Appeal

A clip from The Avengers. I'm posting this for one reason only: Frequent TVB visitor God Is My Codependent has heretofore refused to watch the show, despite my recommendations. There--now you have no excuse. (This clip was chosen pretty much at random from YouTube--I'm not saying this is the best episode ever, but it is Emma-centric.) Anyone who gets the subject line (it's more than it sounding like "Emma Peel") receives bonus trivia points.

Histrionic. I go for Agent 99. She'd dispatch Peel easily, and even let Max take the credit. Plus she can frug!

Well, at least I tried.

(And I have to agree--99 is a great dancer. Much better than Elaine Benes.)

Were you comparing the trope of the antagonist being only partially disclosed (hands, eye, etc.) to the way Peter Lorre's character is set up in Fritz Lang's "M"? Otherwise, I get no bonus trivia points.

Nope. Since there are no more takers:

The character name Emma Peel was an inside joke for the producers--they needed to replace the female character on the show when Honor Blackman left. The TV company used the phrase M--for Male--appeal when discussing casting: M appeal/Emma Peel.

Or, so I have read in numerous places.

I thought it was for Mmmmmm.

I attribute my leather fetish to Emma Peel.
