Digging in the dirt

My partner and I belong to a cooperative organic garden, and today was the first big work day.

That is one big mofo spider. I wouldn't hold that in my hand for a million bucks.

Well, maybe a million. Not a half-million, though.

I have to admit: I don't like to garden.

Holy cow. Is that a brown recluse?

Recluse? I don't think so--it definitely left the house.

Ha! Ha! Oh, man, it hurts.

That's my friend Tamar's hand. She's a big nature buff, so I'm going to assume she knows what she's doing. The highly poisonous brown recluse only lives in the south, from what I've read, so that's not one (we're on Long Island).
