My favorites from that era are the gelatin molded foods. Praised be the 21st century for ridding us of aspic.
My mom still makes one of them for big family dinners. My sister and father like it, but I always pass. Still, it's better than my Scottish grandma's potted head.
aspic...I remember watching on tv, I think it was the British "Jewel in the Crown" series, and everyone was being offered "shape". They pointed to it on the table. "Have some shape."
